Building a Bridge to Freedom: Strengthening our Capacity to Challenge Detention
July 15, 2026, 1–2:30pm ET
Since January 2025, over 65,000 people have been detained under the federal administration’s mass deportation campaign. Immigrants are removed from their community support, lack access to legal resources, and are forced to endure inhumane and deadly conditions. Our community has the power to respond! Join L4GG’s Litigation Director Amy Powell and National Lawyers Guild’s (NLG) Director of Mass Defense Xavier T. de Janon for a training on how legal workers can respond to the federal administration deportation campaign and challenge detention. The webinar will include a discussion on the current pipelines leading to detention and how our legal community can take action to free people from detention, including an introduction to habeas petitions.
This program will be recorded and shared with all registrants.
