Justice is won at every level.
The fights that shape people’s daily lives — over reproductive rights, climate, immigration, and democracy itself — are being decided right now in state capitols across the country. Lawyers can change the outcome.

State legislatures are the front line.
As federal protections continue to erode, state governments are making the decisions that define what rights look like in practice — on abortion access, transgender healthcare, voting, immigration enforcement, climate resilience, and more.
L4GG has always worked at the state level. Across every pillar of our work, our lawyers, policy advocates, and partners are active in state legislatures and local communities: winning shield law protections, training frontline healthcare providers, defending clean energy funding, supporting climate resilience projects in underserved communities, and building coalitions that hold the line.
These fights don’t belong to one issue area. They belong to all of us — which is exactly why we built the infrastructure below.
Below are two ways you can plug in right now.
State Legislative Advocacy Academy (SLAA)
475+ attorneys trained across 48+ states
The SLAA is a first-of-its-kind training program that teaches lawyers how to use their unique skills to influence state policy — wherever they live, on whatever issues they care about most.
Through expert-led sessions, you’ll learn how state legislatures operate and how to influence policy within them. The issues are up to you. The skills are universal.
In 2026, we’ve expanded — with new live sessions, a growing L4GG Leadership Program, and an urgent mandate to build the legal profession’s capacity to defend democracy from the ground up.
L4GG Michigan
our PILOT STATE CHAPTER
L4GG Michigan is our first state chapter — a group of lawyers whose passion for justice brought them under the L4GG umbrella and who wanted to go deeper in their own community.
The chapter connects Michigan lawyers to rapid-response pro bono work, national L4GG campaigns, and on-the-ground civic engagement in their own state.
We’re building a model here. If it works in Michigan, we’ll bring it everywhere. If you’re an L4GG lawyer who wants this kind of organized local presence in your state, Michigan is proof it’s possible.
Your state needs you.
The policy battles being fought in state capitols right now will shape what rights are available for years to come. We have the training, the infrastructure, and the community. Join us today.
