WASHINGTON — Traci Feit Love, Founder and Executive Director of Lawyers for Good Government (L4GG), issued the following statement after the U.S. Senate signaled it will confirm Todd Blanche as Attorney General of the United States:
“The Senate’s decision to confirm Todd Blanche does not erase the profound conflicts of interest that defined his tenure as Acting Attorney General. He has targeted Trump’s political opponents, helped engineer a deeply flawed settlement of President Trump's frivolous IRS lawsuit, sought extraordinary tax protections for the Trump family, and only abandoned the proposed Anti-Weaponization Fund after bipartisan opposition threatened his confirmation.
“Every action Attorney General Blanche takes from this point forward will be judged by whether it upholds the rule of law or bends to political loyalty. The American people deserve a Justice Department that follows the facts, applies the law without fear or favor, and remains accountable to the Constitution—not to any one president.
“Lawyers for Good Government will continue working alongside our partners to preserve the independence of the Justice Department, support meaningful congressional oversight, and hold this administration accountable whenever it places political interests above the public interest. The rule of law does not end with today’s vote, and neither does our commitment to defending it.”
