If you are an asylum seeker in need of assistance with your work permit application, please review the information below BEFORE filling out the request for assistance.


eligibility Requirements:

While we wish we could help find lawyers for everyone, this project can only assist individuals who are seeking help with their work permit applications, not their asylum cases. At this time, we can only consider your request for assistance if you meet the following criteria:

  1. You are currently living in the United States.  

  2. You are seeking asylum in the United States.

  3. You have already filed a Form I-589, Application for Asylum and for Withholding of Removal.

  4. You are a current member of the Asylum Seeker Advocacy Project (ASAP).

  5. You do not have an attorney helping you at all with your asylum case.

  6. You have never received a work permit in the United States.

Please note: if you meet the above requirements, you are eligible to request assistance with your work permit. We cannot guarantee that we will be able to find you a lawyer.

Information Required to FILL OUT the REQUEST FOR ASSISTANCE form:

  • An email address. If you do not have an email address, you can set one up here.

  • A mobile phone number in the United States so we can notify you if/when you are invited to fill out the full intake form.

  • ASAP member ID.

  • A-number.
