That’s the reality for asylum seekers facing a punitive new filing fee that’s blocking their path to employment authorization. For people who’ve already lost everything, this barrier can mean the difference between rebuilding their lives and remaining trapped in limbo.
Over the next few months, L4GG’s Project Corazon will host 11 legal clinics helping 150+ asylum seekers apply for work permits. Many have already contacted us, worried they can’t afford the fees. Families are having to choose which member gets to work first while they save up for the others.
