Fight Punitive Immigration Fees for Asylum Seekers
Should our immediate funding needs be met, we’ll direct your contribution to where it can make the greatest difference in helping to defend immigrants rights.
The "Big Beautiful Bill" didn't just change immigration law—it weaponized fees to block access to justice for asylum seekers.
New punitive charges are creating impossible barriers: $550 for asylum seekers' first work permits, fees to apply for asylum, and escalating costs across the immigration system.
The impact is immediate and devastating. Asylum seekers who've lost everything can't afford to work legally. People following every rule are being stopped by arbitrary financial barriers.
L4GG's Project Corazon is fighting back. Over the next few months, we'll host 11 work permit legal clinics helping 150+ asylum seekers who will likely be subject to the new $550 filing fee. Beyond these clinics, we're also supporting motions to reopen, asylum applications, and other cases where punitive fees can block access to justice.
Your $550 covers one asylum seeker’s work permit filing fee, but every dollar helps. Smaller amounts support motions to reopen, asylum applications, and the expert legal guidance that makes successful cases possible. Right now, people who fled danger and are following every rule are being stopped by an arbitrary fee. Your donation removes that barrier.
Will you help us fight back against punitive fees that block asylum seekers’ legal rights?
