2026 New Opportunities
1. Take L4GG’s Volunteer Survey
L4GG is mobilizing a large quantity of lawyers to help respond to incoming threats to civil and human rights, environmental protection, and more. We need to know who is with us and what resources to count on. Let us know your skills, expertise, and availability so we can map out who’s ready to help.
Filling out the survey will help us better understand the availability of volunteer resources as policies change or new programs are announced. Together, we can take bold and strategic action.
2. VOLUNTEER FOR L4GG’S DETENTION BRIDGE PROJECT
⚖️ People swept up by ICE are disappearing into detention centers thousands of miles from their families—most without a lawyer. L4GG's Detention Bridge Project is deploying legal support where the need is most acute: detention centers in Texas and elsewhere that are receiving people arrested in Minneapolis and other cities.
Right now, many transfers are going to Fort Bliss in El Paso—a facility holding 5,000 people in dangerous, overcrowded conditions. Reports include insufficient food and water, unsanitary facilities, and three deaths in recent months. The vast majority have no legal representation. Without a lawyer, they cannot challenge their detention or navigate proceedings often conducted in a language they don't speak.
We need lawyers now for remote and in-person intakes, bond hearings, habeas petitions, and impact litigation. All experience levels welcome—training provided. Sign up today!
3. JOIN L4GG’s Pro Bono Litigation Corps
L4GG is mobilizing experienced, unaffiliated attorneys to defend civil rights and the rule of law through high-impact litigation in an era of unprecedented challenges. This program is specifically designed for lawyers who are not at big firms, such as retired attorneys, former government attorneys, solos, or others. If you’re an experienced litigator without access to traditional pro bono models through your employer and are looking to put your skills to work on cases where representation is increasingly difficult to secure, complete our volunteer interest form to become part of this critical new initiative.
If you're ready to get involved, fill out the interest form to learn more!
4. Protect Federal grantees in Climate and environmental justice
🚨 $300 billion in federal climate & infrastructure funding is under attack. The current administration is stalling, terminating, and investigating grantees, especially nonprofits, Tribal governments, and organizations engaged in environmental justice work.
Our Fund Protection Clinic (FPC) is launching a pro bono legal support initiative to help grantees fight back against improper funding delays and investigations.
Who can volunteer: Licensed attorneys - training will be provided! Experience in administrative law, government contracts, federal investigations, or compliance is helpful but not necessary.
Commitment levels: Each consultation should take approximately 10-15 pro bono hours between training, research for your client meeting, and follow-up. Choose your level of involvement - help with 1 case or 10+.
Our Court of Federal Claims Clinic is mobilizing pro bono attorneys to help these grantees prepare the necessary legal records to recover their funds.
Who can volunteer: Licensed attorneys - mandatory training will be provided! Experience in the Court of Federal Claims or a background in administrative law, government contracts, or compliance is helpful but not necessary. Litigation experience is not required.
Commitment levels: Limited scope-assistance to review contracts and potentially draft a complaint. It does not require you to represent a a grantee in COFC. We estimate that the work will take 30-50 hours in total over a period of 3-6 months.
5. Help Asylum Seekers Apply for Work Permits (Remote & In-Person)
Asylum seekers need stability—and a work permit is a vital step toward rebuilding their lives. That's why L4GG is seeking experienced immigration attorneys to volunteer at upcoming clinics this spring.
In-Person (NYC): We're looking for attorneys to review draft work permit applications at clinics hosted at Manhattan law firms on March 9, 10, 11, and 12.
Remote (anywhere): Experienced immigration attorneys based anywhere in the U.S. can join our remote clinics on March 31 and April 22.
If you're an immigration attorney comfortable reviewing work permits and ready to make a meaningful difference, fill out our interest form!
